Course information for B83012 Internal Medicine - Pneumology 2 for 5th year students of General Medicine
• a week of morning classes
• on Mon and Fri, class takes place at the Department of Pneumology, 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and TN, Thomayer Hospital, with seminair in lecture hall, pavilion B5 and practical exercises in the inpatient department in pavilion B5, 1st floor
• locker rooms for medical students are in the basement of pavilion B5, keys can be picked up at the acute clinic on the 1st floor
• on Wed, class is organized by the Department of Thoracic Surgery 3rd Faculty of Medicine and Thomayer Hospital and takes the form of an interactive course in the lecture room in Study Hall B5
• on Tue and Thu, class takes place at the 1st Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, General University Hospital.
Students should bring the following to each class: a stethoscope, white medical coat, change of shoes and name tag. Each absence must be excused and made up for. 100% attendance is required; it is a condition for receiving credit for the course.
The internship includes an entry and final (credit) test.
Both tests must be completed on the MOODLE UK website ( https://dl1.cuni.cz/course/index.php?categoryid=1133 ), and students take each test using their mobile devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop). A functional Wi-Fi network is available for the final test; no data connection is required.
Entrance test:
Students take the test at home before the start of the week of classes and must provide a certificate of its completion prior to the start of their internship, no later than on Tuesday before the start of class. The test is not scored, but its completion is a precondition for the internship.
Students must register for the test, but then may take it at any time before the start of their internship.
Final (credit) test:
Students take the test on the last day of their internship (before credit can be received) in the lecture room of the Pneumology Clinic on the 1st floor of pavilion A1. It is necessary to register for the test at least one day before taking the test. A score of 70% is required to pass the test. If a student receives a score above 50%, but below 70%, the student will l be given an additional question to determine if credit can be received. With a score of 50% or less, the student will have to repeat the test at another time with another group. Registration is not necessary for a second attempt at passing the test.
