Subject annotation Internal medicine- Pneumology 1

The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive view of the field of respiratory medicine. For this reason, not only internships at the Department of Pulmonology of the First Medical Faculty and Charles University, but also internships at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Third Medical Faculty and FTN were included in the syllabus. By connecting pneumology and pneumosurgery as disciplines that are closely related and follow each other, it is logical and copies the efforts for modern teaching of clinical disciplines. It thus shows pneumology as an internal field with an overlap into surgical and morphological fields.
In the 4th year, the main content of seminars and practical exercises is mastering the propaedeutics of the field, acquaintance with the main examination procedures and symptoms that accompany respiratory tract diseases, and basic surgical procedures in pneumosurgery. Emphasis is also placed on gaining practical skills in the clinical examination of the patient at the clinic inpatient stations. The course also includes the practice of pleural techniques (thoracocentesis and chest drainage) and bronchoscopy on exercise machines.
